Review an app with DiskHelper
- Open Applications in DiskHelper and select the app.
- Check its size and the associated files listed below it. Use Reveal in Finder to inspect a file’s location.
- Choose Uninstall Completely to open the review.
- Review the files, choose whether to make a backup, and confirm Move to Trash.
Files identified as shared with other apps are kept. Protected system files and Apple apps cannot be removed through DiskHelper.
If no associated files are found, the app bundle may be the only item listed. That does not prove the app never stored data elsewhere. Use the developer’s uninstaller when one is available.
Backups and snapshots are different
A file backup copies the selected files to a folder you choose before cleanup. Keep it somewhere with enough space for those copies.
A scan snapshot records paths and sizes so you can compare storage changes later. It cannot restore deleted files. Choose the file backup option if you want a copy of the items you’re removing.
What uninstalling does not do
Removing an app does not cancel its subscription. It also does not remove documents you created with it, though you might still need the app to open them. Emptying Trash permanently removes its contents, so check them first. Read Apple’s guidance on deleting apps.
Afterward, check your available storage or explore other large files.
